visionary and one the world's foremost social inventors. Jaccaci is the author of two books,
Chief Evolutionary Officer - Leaders Mapping the Future and General Periodicity: Nature's
Creative Dynamics. He has spoken to audiences across the globe about nature's patterns of
growth and transformation and how those patterns can be applied to the successful evolution of
any business or venture.
Jaccaci earned both undergraduate and graduate degrees from Harvard and also has a Master of
Fine Arts degree from the Rhode Island School of Design. He served as Assistant to the
President of Boston College and also served as an Assistant Dean of Admissions at Harvard.
As a professional futurist, Gus leads a not-for-profit organization called Unity Scholars which
has created numerous social design projects in the United States and is supporting a major effort
to enhance creativity and self-sufficiency in Africa.

Our Purpose and Our Gift to the Future
Dear Friend, June 30, 2005
In the next few decades, more change than ever before in history will both emerge from within and
sweep over humanity. We know at some deep level that our survival is at stake and regeneration is
our greatest hope.
The journey from hope to possibility to potentiality to triumphant fulfillment is in front of us. We are
at the threshold of conscious human evolution, the doorway to the design of healthy human
generativity nurturing all life on earth.
Design is the one domain of human creative endeavor that allows us to get ahead of the present,
invent the future and pull humanity toward its promise and potential. Design is also nature’s daily
creative endeavor, always doing more and more with less and less for all life for all time. She has
been to her design studio every day for over thirteen billion years waiting for us to join her – all of us.
It is our great good fortune, a gift of grace, that in the face of the unprecedented challenges we face
we are given new insight into the dynamic pattern of growth nature always uses. The plan of how
healthy evolution proceeds is the way nature does her planning, the way she always enacts a future
of successful and continuous progress. This plan is now given to us to use and follow. We now
know that the world around us is a nature planning network.
You are invited to join an association of the same name, the Nature Planning Network, a creative
enterprise through which you can become a witness to and designer of conscious human evolution.
You may wonder whether we humans can lift our hearts and eyes from our daily rounds and take on
such a supernal challenge. Fear not. We can.
Humanity is a new member of the web of life whose job and joy it is to fully reveal the grace and
harmony already here on earth. The gift, the plan has been here all along through the ages waiting to
be unwrapped not just by the great spiritual leaders of the past but at last by all humanity.
Our web of like-minded and like-hearted colleagues will grow and flourish as we share our wisdom,
our ideas and our channels for manifesting and becoming the new earth-loving creations we design.
